As an event manager, you’ll organise conferences, seminars and exhibitions, as well as parties and corporate incentive trips.

You’ll manage the whole process from the planning stage, right through to running the event and carrying out the post-event evaluation. The role is primarily hands-on and often involves working as part of a team.

The job of the Event Manager involves visualising the concept, planning, budgeting and organising various events such as conferences, concerts, stage shows, seminars, weddings, theme parties, product launch parties, exhibitions, corporate seminars and others. 

Eligibility to become Event Manager

Pass 12th

Earn bachelor degree

Gain some experience

Earn master degree or MBA in event management

Gain 5 to 7 year’s of experience in this field.

However, to become an event manager in a reputed firm or company, one must have an MBA degree along with good public relation skills. Having a degree in public relations along with your Master in marketing will be an added advantage in this profession.

You need to have 5 to 7 years of experience in this field to become a event manager.

There are multiple career paths through which one can become an event manager. Candidates can pursue diploma/degree/certificate as per their career interest and they must have passed class 12th with any set of subjects and for master’s program candidates must have a valid score of entrance exams such as CAT, MAT etc.

Graduate Degree Courses

For BBA and BA courses in event management candidates must have passed class 12th with minimum 50% marks.

Bachelor degree in event management

Diploma, Certificate and PG Course in event management

For diploma or certificate in event management courses candidate must have 45% aggregate in class 12th marks.

Master degree

master’s program candidates must have a valid score of entrance exams such as CAT, MAT etc. You need to complete bachelor degree with 45% of marks.

Master in event management

MBA in event management

You don’t need a degree to become an events manager and you can work your way up from an assistant position, gaining experience as you progress. It may be useful to take the Level 2 Certificate in Event Planning, although not essential.

There is no typical route to becoming an event manager and most organisations will recruit as vacancies arise.

You’ll generally work normal office hours in the lead up to an event, but may need to work extra hours, including evenings and weekends, closer to the event.
