Geographers work in a variety of fields, leveraging data and fieldwork to understand our dynamic planet, including its environmental, economic, social, and political systems.

Geographers are scientists who specialize in studying the earth, including its physical features, organisms, and natural phenomena. 

Eligibility

A candidate must completed 12th class in arts or science stream.This is a minimum educational qualification to become eligible for graduate courses there. 

Earn bachelor degree

After 12th earn bachelor degree in Geography. arts or science student are eligible for this degree.

Complete internship

Many Geographer students have the chance to participate in internships during or after their undergraduate studies. An internship provides practical experience, which can help when looking for employment after college.

Earn master degree

one can choose any specialized courses in Geography like Cartography, Urban and Town Planning, Regional Planning, Physiography, Climatology.

Do entry level job

Common first jobs for Geographers include GIS Officer, Surveyor, Geospatial Technician, and Entry Level Consultant.

Arts

BA in Geography

The candidate must complete his 10+2 examination from a recognized board with a minimum of 50% marks.

The candidates should have studied all the major subjects of Humanities in his/her 10+2 or equivalent examination.

 The student must also qualify in the entrance test and interview in order to be eligible for the admission process.

M.A. in Geography 

Master of Arts in Geography is a postgraduate Geography course. It is a two years program.

A student who have bachelor degree in Geography is eligible for this course.

PhD in Geography

PhD Geography is a research based doctoral course in Geography which is devoted to the study of lands, features, inhabitants and phenomena of the earth & planets. The minimum duration of a PhD Geography course is 3 years, but can be extended depending on research duration. 

most of the reputed colleges demand minimum 55% marks in their masters’ degree and a minimum of 60% marks in their post graduation degree with net or set or other entrance exam.

Science

BSc Geography 

Bachelor in Science in Geography is an undergraduate degree with an emphasis on Geography for 3 years. It is the study of the Earth and its many properties, characteristics, people and phenomena, in addition to the map and geographical image-interpretation.

Candidates who have passed Higher Secondary School Certificate 10+2 securing a minimum aggregate of 50% marks in Science.

Msc in Geography

MSc Geography is a 2-year postgraduate program that can be pursued after completion of a bachelor’s degree in geography. 

PhD in Geography

PhD Geography is a research based doctoral course in Geography which is devoted to the study of lands, features, inhabitants and phenomena of the earth & planets. The minimum duration of a PhD Geography course is 3 years, but can be extended depending on research duration. Salary

Fresher can expect Rs.30,000 to Rs.40,000 and if one decides to join some overseas organization he can get anywhere near Rs.50,000 and more. After gaining some on job experience one gets as good as Rs.60,000 per month and more.
